Fallout New Vegas a Complete Fail

First off, I'm going to start by saying I didn't love Fallout 3 as much as n00bs did.  I believe it took a course off track from the original three Fallouts, and basically was "Oblivion with Guns."

I went to the midnight sale of Fallout: New Vegas thinking I was going to save myself some time buying the actual disc.  I was very torn on whether or not to buy New Vegas in the first place because I was very disappointed with Fallout 3.  Alas, my high hopes and optimism lead me to make a horrible decision.

I picked it up at Gamestop at the midnight sale.  I took it to my laptop.  I put the disc in.  Steam opens up.  What?

I put the activation code in.  Then I get the message "Game is not released yet."  I can't install the game.  If I want to install the game, I have to "Pre-Load" it.

So my questios are...why did I even bother going out of my way for a "midnight sale" if I can't even play the game 3 hours later?  What was the point of buying the disc if all it was going to do was install Steam and download the game?  Why did Bethesda make this a Steam-driven game and put "Games for Windows" on the box?

I'm never buying a game Bethesda has anything to do with ever again.  As long as Steam doesn't acknowledge the fact that there are people that DON'T live in the Pacific time zone, I will never buy another game from Steam ever again.  This is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, and I saw the list of achievements, and Steam/Bethesda don't even care to proof read their work.  Lame!

Loaf, it says games for windows. Meaning games for windows pc. Not a game for windows live.

I really don't see why you're so upset about this. I would much rather have bought the disc, so I could have the game though steam. Even if I still had to download it.

I can understand how useless that is, but why didn't you just wait anyways and buy it though steam.

I don't see why you're making such a fuss about this. Just install the game and stop crying.

So far it's a pretty fucking awesome game.
