The Birthday Blog...and What I'm Giving Up This Year
First off, Happy Birthday to Me
Ten years ago today, I had my sixteenth birthday, and on that day, I decided to quit drinking pop...cold turkey. I eventually broke that down to only drinking liquids that didn't contain more than 1 of what pop is notorious for - High Fructose Corn Syrup, Carbonation, and Caffine. This allowed me to drink things like Sunny D, Sobe, and such. I noticed a big boost in energy, dramatic weight loss (about 20 pounds!), and the absence of acne just within months!!
Today, I am declaring cold turkey on another menace...fast and fried foods!!! I figured I have eaten more than enough to last me the rest of my life now, so I'm DONE with all that! This one is going to be so much more difficult, but I'll hold off as long as I can. The same rule will apply here - only in emergencies. I'm pretty stubborn, but I'm not that big of an idiot!
I still plan on having my annual pizza, though. I was born shortly after midnight, and I have a pizza every few minutes past midnight. I don't know why. Just a tradition I suppose, and it always sounds like an awesome idea until I eat the whole thing, hahaha.
Remember that the birthday is the most important day of the year. Without this day, you wouldn't be here, I wouldn't be here...and so on. And you can not take more than you give on your birthday! For three straight birthdays (13, 14, 15), I had the flu, constipation, and some TERRIBLE diareeah. It was horrible and I didn't like it one bit, haha. I was speaking to a Native American friend on the subject because my birthday was fast approaching and he mentioned to me that one of his tribe's traditions was that on your birthday, you do not receive gifts...you give them. Being born in to this world is the best gift you can get, and to take more on this day was bad for the soul.
Call me superstitious, but ever since, I've had some pretty awesome birthdays, and all with no illness. Well, last year's really, really sucked...but at least I wasn't sick, and there wasn't much I could do about it, haha.
(Don't try to line me about how I posted this on the 13th, haha. It was a bit after midnight, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't publish with the minutes after midnight timestamp...must be the server location...)
